Cambridge Audio Speakers: Near Field on a Budget
What do you do when everyone else in your class is either going hard and heavy or fast and light? Aim for the middle ground, at least that’s what Cambridge Audio has done historically and that approach continues with the budget and convenience minded Cambridge L/RS active stereo speakers.
The market for self-powered active speakers under $1,000 is as jammed as a Taylor Swift concert. I've auditioned and lived with a lot of them (more than I can count). The Cambridge L/R S speakers stand out from the crowd to begin with because, well, they're a bargain at $549 a pair. But more important, they are nimble compared to more flat-footed powered speakers. A definite plus. To achieve this price point within this category of small active powered speakers , the LRS speakers are not quite as evenly balanced some speakers in this class that cost 2 or 3 times the price, and they lack a couple of features that buyers looking to say, outfit a dorm room or den, might want.
