Soundbars are fine for bringing some oomph to soundtracks, but they are terrible at playing music. The Devialet Dione overcomes the limitations of the format and brings true musicality to your TV.
Soundbars are by design a compromise. They are inherently limited by their compact size, single chassis, and demand for convenience over complexity. So many sound bars sacrifice musical fidelity in favor of big bass bombast, and honestly, that's what attracts many buyers. But I've always been disappointed with such designs because it has meant switching to a different sound system every time I wanted to listen to music.
The Devialet Dione is intended to remedy that shortcoming by more faithfully and energetically rendering music and soundtracks. I tested the $2,199 Dione along with Devialet's $199 remote control. The sound bar is named after the Greek goddess who was, according to legend, the mother of Aphrodite and the goddess of the sea. I wouldn't say that this Devialet is mythical, but it's certainly worthy of the name.
