The 10 Best Electric Vehicles of 2020

After years of promise, electric vehicles (EVs) seem to be finally gaining some traction--even though they still face challenges. The supporting infrastructure has a long way to go and charging times need to improve, for example, which is why EVs still only account for less than 2 percent of all new vehicle sales.

Nevertheless, most electric models now deliver reasonable range--over 200 miles--on a single charge and offer attractive features like zippy acceleration. Indeed, with cities planning to ban the use of combustion engine vehicles in the future and climate change looming on the horizon, the electrification of the automobile is an all but foregone conclusion. So the question is, what kind of an electric vehicle do you want?

We've chosen the top 10 models for the year, nine of which are pure electric, plus one plug-in hybrid.
